We are singing Praises to the LORD for His mercies and miracles in our lives. We have gone into hiding for six months to complete the book:
“The Bill of Rights for the Hard of Hearing”
There is an amazing story how the Lord brought it all together. The book was published on Amazon on June 2, 2018. This is a great victory in the ministry to the hard of hearing.
We realized that hearing loss is covered under the Human Rights issue, The Civil rights bill, as well as the American Disabilities Act of 1990.
My heart goes out to the 48 million hard of hearing Americans who are overlooked and discriminated against. The main issue is that the public and churches fail to provide hearing accessibility in every department.
To deny the rights of hearing accessibility to one hard of hearing person, you exclude them all. We must end exclusion and discrimination against people with hearing disability.
“No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States, as defined in section 706(20) of this title, shall, solely because of her or his disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity.”
Only 1.5 % of the 48 million hard of hearing uses sign language. We need communication assistive helps as described in the book.
We are launching an “I Want to Hear Campaign” using the book as a guideline that recognizes the unique communication needs for the hearing impaired in the church.
Until the Trumpet Sounds: LET MY PEOPLE HEAR!
